1. Antibacterial effect
The antibacterial active component of Phellodendron amurense is berberine. In vitro tests were effective against Staphylococcus aureus, pneumococcus, diphtheria, Streptococcus viridis and dysentery (except sonnei's), but almost ineffective against Escherichia coli and typhoid bacilli. It was reported that it was effective against Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. In terms of crude drugs, the antibacterial effect of Coptis chinensis is twice as strong as that of Cortex Phellodendri. It has no direct inhibitory effect on H37Rv and avian Mycobacterium tuberculosis, but can reduce the number of bacteria, or show bacteriostatic effect at very high concentration (1 / 100), but it has also been reported to obtain good results. When guinea pigs were inoculated with human tuberculosis as experimental treatment, the efficacy of oral or injection was very poor. Intramuscular injection of hydrochloric acid crystals extracted from Cortex Phellodendri has a certain effect on guinea pigs inoculated with bovine tuberculosis. It is said that Cortex Phellodendri has improved the clinical symptoms and X-ray examination of tuberculosis patients, and is better than Rhizoma Coptidis.
In the test tube, Cortex Phellodendri decoction or extract has different degrees of bacteriostatic effect on several common pathogenic fungi. Its decoction can also kill Leptospira (the dose needs to be twice that of Coptis chinensis). It also has a weak effect on Trichomonas vaginalis in vitro.
2. Antihypertensive effect
Cortex Phellodendri can produce significant and lasting hypotensive effect on anesthetized animals by intravenous or intraperitoneal injection. Carotid injection is stronger than intravenous injection, so hypotension may be central. The tertiary amine compound named cilopillin synthesized by changing the quaternary ammonium type of Phellodendron can also cause rapid and significant hypotension; When the spinal cord was cut off between cervical vertebrae and , the hypotension disappeared, which also proved that the hypotension was central. In addition, cilopillin has strong anti adrenergic effect, which can inhibit the pressor response caused by carotid artery compression, asphyxia, electrical stimulation of large visceral nerve and the contraction response of blink membrane caused by injection of adrenaline or electrical stimulation of superior cervical sympathetic ganglion. Phenylbenzylamine, tolazolin and reserpine can weaken the antihypertensive response.
3. Other roles
Cortex Phellodendri alkaloid or cilopipine can inhibit the central nervous system, and the spontaneous activities and various reflexes of mice are inhibited; High amplitude slow waves can appear in brain waves of non anesthetized rabbits after administration of cilopipine. Berberine has a mild arrow like effect and has no effect on the tension of frog rectus abdominis muscle, but it can inhibit the contractile response caused by acetylcholine. For isolated rabbit intestines, Phellodendron powder can enhance its amplitude, and Phellodendron can enhance its tension and amplitude; Cortex Phellodendri lactone inhibited the intestinal tract. In rabbits with pancreatic fistula, Cortex Phellodendri can promote pancreatic secretion. Cortex Phellodendri lactone can reduce blood glucose in rabbits when it is close to the lethal dose (0.05 ~ 0.1 g / kg), but Cortex Phellodendri ketone has no such effect. It is said that Cortex Phellodendri has the effect of protecting platelets, which remains to be confirmed. It is also reported that Phellodendron amurense can kill larvae (10p. P.m. can kill 62% within 18 hours) and houseflies. In mice, taking it with Hemerocallis root can reduce the toxicity of the latter.
