Medicinal parts

Nature and Taste
Pungent, sweet, slightly cold.

General meridian
It belongs to the lung, spleen, large intestine and stomach meridians.

Effects
Promoting rash permeation, clearing heat and removing toxins, and raising Yang and lifting traps.

Main Treatment
Epidemics, headache, cold and fever, sore throat, mouth sores, rash; sinking middle qi, prolonged diarrhea, prolonged dysentery, prolapsed anus, women's collapse, belt, falling uterus; carbuncles, sores and poison.

Usage and dosage
Internal use: decoction, used to raise Yang, 3-6g, preferably honey roasted, wine fried; used to clear heat and detoxify, available up to 15g, preferably raw; or into pills, scattered. Externally: For external use: Apply with powder or gargle in decoction or drench.

Notes on use
Use with caution for people with cold spleen and stomach.

Preparation method
1. Pick out impurities, soak slightly and wash, fish out, moisten, slice, and dry in the sun.

2. honey system: take refined honey diluted with an appropriate amount of boiling water, add slices of hemp, mix well, smothered, placed in a pot, heated with a gentle fire, fried until not sticky hands, remove and cool, each 100kg of hemp, with 25kg of refined honey.

3. Charcoal: take the sesame tablets placed in a pot, heated with a martial fire, fried until the surface charred black, brown inside, sprayed with a little water to extinguish the sparks, removed and dried.

4. Stir-frying: take the slices of hemp, stir-fried with a gentle fire until slightly charred or burnt.

5. Bran system: the first pot will be hot, add bran and slices of hemp, frying until slightly yellow, sieve the bran, each 10 kg of hemp, with 1.5 kg of bran.

Asclepias rhizomes thick, solid, black surface, with many sunken round hole-like remnants of the old stem. Stem 1-2 m high, base thick to 1.4 cm, slightly sulcate, branched, pubescent. The leaves are twice- to ternate-pinnately compound; the blade of the lower leaves of the stem is triangular, up to 30 cm wide; the terminal leaflet is long-stalked, rhombic, 7-10 cm long, 4-7 cm wide, often lobed, with serrate margins, and the lateral leaflets are short-stalked or sessile, obliquely ovate, slightly smaller than the terminal leaflet, glabrous on the surface, sparsely white pilose along the veins abaxially; the petiole is up to 15 cm long. Flowering in July-September, fruiting in August-October. Born between 1700-2300 meters above sea level in the mountain forest edge, forest or roadside grass. It likes warm and humid climate. Cold hardy, the seedlings in the year at -25 ºC low temperature can safely overwinter. Seedlings are afraid of direct sunlight, flowering and fruiting period need sufficient light, fear of flooding, avoid soil drought, like slightly acidic or neutral humus soil, poor growth in alkaline or heavy clay soil cultivation.

It is distributed in Tibet, Yunnan, Sichuan, Qinghai, Gansu, Shaanxi, western Henan and Shanxi. It is also distributed in Mongolia and Siberia of the USSR.
