Pomegranate is a commonly used traditional Chinese medicine. It was first published in "Famous Doctors' Records", which was listed as a lower grade, formerly known as Anshiliu.

Source: The dried peel of a deciduous shrub or small tree pomegranate of the Pomegranate family. Mostly cultivated.
Place of Origin: It is mainly produced in Anhui, Henan, Shandong and other places, and is produced in most parts of the country.
Character identification: The peel is scoop-shaped or irregular block-shaped, with different sizes and a thickness of 2-3 mm. The outer surface is dark red or brownish-yellow, rough and pitted. There are residual persistent calyxes with cylindrical protrusions on the top pieces, and there are stalk scars or occasional short fruit stalks at the base. The inner surface is yellow or reddish-brown, with septum and pits after the seeds have fallen off, forming a raised mesh texture. Hard and brittle, with bright yellow cross section. No gas, bitter taste.
A large, thick-skinned, brownish-yellow, clean one is preferred.
Main ingredients: Contains tannin, mucilage, and bitterness.
Medicinal value: astringent. Its functions are mainly astringent and antibacterial. In vitro tests have antibacterial effects on Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Shigella freundii, and Salmonella typhi, and also have varying degrees of inhibitory effect on a variety of dermatophytes. It also has anti-influenza virus effects.

Function: chronic diarrhea and dysentery, hematochezia, rectal prolapse, nocturnal emission, leucorrhea, abdominal pain due to insect accumulation.
