Galangal (scientific name: Alpinia officinarum Hance) is a plant of Alpinia officinarum in Zingiberaceae.
1. Perennial herb, with rhizome, plant height 40-110 cm, rhizome extended, cylindrical.
Leaf blade linear, 20-30 cm long and 1.2-2.5 cm wide.
2. Flower grow on top, 6-10 cm long, inflorescence axis tomentose. Flowering period: from April to September.
3. Fruit, approx 1 cm in diameter, globular. Red when ripe. The fruiting period is from May to November.
4. The rhizome is used for medicinal purposes, function is relieve pain and eliminate food.
