Relieving Qi, relieving depression and dispersing fire, the principles of which are.
1. Relieve heat.
Animal experiments have confirmed the antipyretic effect. Clinical observation of its antipyretic effect is smooth and reliable, but still less effective than Scutellaria baicalensis.
2, sedation, analgesia.
It has the effect of relieving chest congestion and dysmenorrhea, opening depression and regulating menstruation.
3, antibacterial.
In vitro tests have inhibited the growth of Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
4,Anti-viral.
It has a strong inhibitory effect on influenza virus. In addition, it has the effect of inhibiting the cytopathy caused by type 1 poliomyelitis virus.
Induction: Enters the liver and gall bladder meridians.
Functions: Promoting fever and reducing fever, relieving depression in the liver and raising Yang.
Cold and fever, chills and fever, malaria, chest distension and pain, menstrual disorders.
Clinical applications.
1. For reducing fever. It is especially suitable for relieving flaccid fever (fever of varying heights, fluctuating above 1ºC in the morning and evening), exchangeable cold and fever (not fever when it is malignant cold, not malignant cold when it is feverish, alternating between the two), all febrile and infectious diseases with the above heat types can be treated with Chai Hu to reduce fever. It is more often used clinically for colds, influenza, upper respiratory tract infection, acute bronchitis, lymphadenitis, cellulitis with Pueraria lobata when the fever is mild, and with Scutellaria baicalensis when the fever is severe, and the formula is included in Xiao Chai Hu Tang.
2,Treating dysmenorrhea and menstrual pain caused by liver qi stagnation. Chai Hu is used to treat dysmenorrhea (such as chronic hepatitis) because of its analgesic effect. However, if the liver pain is severe and there is gastrointestinal dysfunction, i.e., fullness after eating, indigestion, nausea, chest fullness, abdominal pain and other symptoms of so-called "liver qi transverse", Chai Hu alone is not strong enough and should be combined with Xiang Shen, Yu Jin and Qing Pi.
For the treatment of menstrual disorders caused by liver qi stagnation and abdominal pain (menstrual pain related to mental and physical factors), it is also used for its analgesic and sedative effects, often with Angelica sinensis and Paeonia lactiflora to strengthen its effects, as in the case of Propylactone.
3,Treating malaria, with Chang Shan.
Note: Chai Hu should not be used for coughing and clearing heat due to Yin deficiency; for head swelling, tinnitus, dizziness and dizziness due to "liver fire" (e.g. hypertension), the dosage of Chai Hu should not be too large, otherwise it may cause symptoms to worsen or even bleeding.
As for tuberculosis, Chai Hu should be used with caution, but it can be used when there are also external symptoms and need to reconcile the exterior and interior; it can also be used when there is also liver depression and need to relieve depression, and the dosage is usually 3~4.5g.
P.S.: Chai Hu and Bai Shao are often used in combination to strengthen the analgesic effect of liver detoxification on the one hand, and Bai Shao can moderate the stimulating effect of Chai Hu on the body on the other.
Dosage: 6~18g, for relieving liver depression, sedation and analgesia, use 6~9g. In order to strengthen the heating and sweating effect, use up to 10~18g if necessary, and also decoct long and thick.
